Collaborage is a TSA collaborative project that begins this December
2009. This sculpture project is in two parts: the making of the work,
and the Dallas exhibition of the work in Fall of 2010 at the
Eisemann Center. $1,500 in cash and prizes will be awarded at
that time by jurors. Each artist within a small group of
approximately three people will began one sculpture and take turns
working on each other's pieces. This local project of artists in
central and north Texas will emphasize communication in working
together, to create an integrated vision within each group, in order
to produce cohesive finished sculptures of contemporary and fine
art. Artists should be less than one hour away from all members in
their group, and will get to experience working with materials they
may not work with otherwise. All works should come to completion by
July 15, 2010. Please contact me with questions.

Collaborage was inspired by a
larger nationwide project called Imagillaboration, which began in
2007, and consisted of many groups of artists across the USA who
created collaborative sculptures. The brainchild of that project,
Michael Cottrell, oversaw 16 groups that included over 100
participating sculptors. The local group, Group 10, consisted of
seven sculptors located in North Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas:
Bruce Allen (leader), Ruben Glaucier, Luke Sides, Rene Parnell,
Hunter Stamps, John Holt and myself. To view the progression of
those sculptures see

www.imagillaboration.org is touring the USA and showing in Las
Vegas, New Mexico October/November 2009, and will be on display in
Corpus Christi, Texas in Spring of 2010.

This
piece is the first in a series and was designed to entertain underwater
creatures as well as land creatures. Each custom-made pond sculpture
is durable outdoor multi-purpose art for the pond, aerating the
water for healthier fish, and incorporating all 4 elements –
Fire:
Solar powered lighting at night-time makes the sculpture glow
from within like fireflies playing hide-and-seek.
Water: Sculpture's
water pump/fountain puts healthy negative ions into the air,
and oxygen into the water to keep your fish happy. Holes in
base allow fish to do some fun exploring.
Earth: Amethyst, smoky quartz
crystal clusters, copper, resin, carved plastic and slumped
glass make the piece heavier than it looks and ground it to
the pond floor.
Air: Exposure to the elements
outdoors encourages random zephyrs to breeze through and it
makes a great landing pad for dragonflies!
This
custom-made pond sculpture can be ordered in other shapes or sizes;
each is one of a kind and completely original. Please inquire
on prices. Contrary to outdated information, copper sculpture
in a pond is not a problem for Koi health. (Long term proof of
healthy Koi residing in a pond with copper metal over many years
has now been shown, and can be provided to you upon request).
